What is the return/exchange policy?

For any manufacturing defect, you have 1 year to exchange your Petit Coulou with proof of purchase. For a refund, you have 14 days. To proceed, contact services@petitcoulou.com.

1. Final sale items are neither refundable nor exchangeable.
2. Regarding promotions, if you have purchased a product and it is on promotion within the next 14 days, you will be entitled to a price reduction equal to the amount of the discount. After this period, you will no longer be able to benefit from the promotion in question.
3. Delivery and other charges will be taken into account when comparing prices.

Are Petit Coulou covers compatible with all car seats?

Yes, with all rear-facing seats, both 10 kg / 22 lbs and 16 kg / 35 lbs of all brands. However, it is not compatible with evolving seats, as these can accommodate a child over 16 kg / 35 lbs.

*The summer cover is not compatible with Uppababy Mesa, Cybex Aton and all Clek models.

Are your covers flame-retardant?

Our covers are not flame-retardant. They do, however, meet the Canadian flammability requirement for textile products in Canada.

What is a CLO?

The clo is a unit measuring the thermal insulation used for clothing (clothes in English). It is the insulation that allows a person at rest to maintain thermal equilibrium in an atmosphere at 21°C (70°F) . Above this temperature, the person sweats; below this temperature, he or she feels the cold.

Here are examples of clo for certain garments:
summer wear shorts and bare torso: 0.4 clo;
ski clothing: 2 clo;
light fleece gear: 3 clo;
heavy polar equipment: 4 clo;
polar down: 8 clo.

By way of comparison, our covers and insulated backing have a clo of 3.88, which is close to heavy fleece equipment (4 clo).

Are your covers guaranteed?

Our products are made to last, and we stand behind every one of them. The Petit Coulou warranty only covers manufacturing defects for one year (1 year) following the date of purchase. To view our full warranty, click here.

What is the difference between winter car seat covers available on the market and those from Petit Coulou?

How should I dress my baby when he's in his cover?

A bonnet is highly recommended, as 10% of body heat is lost through the head.
Take care that your baby doesn't get too hot this can be just as harmful as the cold.
In the car:
Do not wear a snowsuit.
A hat, warm fleece or other pyjamas and a light blanket if you wish.

Walking:
It all depends on the duration of the activity and the outside temperature. Also take into account the wind factor, i.e. the perceived temperature. We recommend putting on a hat, warm fleece or other pyjamas, slippers, mittens, a light blanket and insulated backing.
The insulated backing will provide better protection from the cold.

How do I know if my baby is warm in its cover?

Take note that every child has a different metabolism. Some are colder than others. The easiest way is to check the temperature on the back of your child's neck. If it's wet, your baby is too hot. In this case, you need to lower the temperature inside the cover. You can remove a blanket, hat, mittens, booties, lighter clothing or simply open the cover slightly. Please wait a few minutes and check again.

How old can my baby be in his Petit Coulou?

You can use your cover as long as your child is in the car seat. It all depends on your baby's weight and height. Generally speaking, a baby will stay in its car seat until the age of 12 months. For more details, refer to your car seat manufacturer's manual.

Is the footmuff cover compatible with all models of strollers, prams and sleds?

Yes, the footmuff cover is equipped with 2 rear elastic straps and 6 back openings which allow a universal fit to all your walking equipment.

How do I dress my child when he is in the footmuff cover?

This cover is worn like a warm and comforting blanket for your child. You must therefore use it as additional protection to offer your child by ensuring that he or she is dressed appropriately according to the temperature and the season. Take into consideration that the cover offers an opening on the upper part of your child at the shoulder and face levels. This is why it is always important to protect the extremities with a hat/beanie, neck warmer, mittens and boots/booties.

Is the fur collar removable?

NO - the fur collar is not removable. The synthetic fur used is of very good quality and it retains its beautiful appearance after washing. IMPORTANT not to put the cover in the dryer.

Can I use the cover in the car?

NO. This cover is not designed for car seats.

Can I wash the footmuff cover?

YES, it is machine washable in cold water (gentle cycle)

Close the cover and turn it inside out to wash it to prolong its appearance

Detach the front panel for faster drying.

Can I put the footmuff cover in the dryer?

NO - We recommend for all models to hang the cover to dry.

Choosing the right cover

What's the difference between the 3 seasons cover and the winter cover?

The 2 covers can be used down to a temperature of -30°C. The 3 seasons cover is more versatile, as it has a removable lining. It can be used as a spring, winter and fall coat.
The winter cover, on the other hand, has two layers of insulation that must be removed. So you have to open the cover to lower the internal temperature.

Which Petit Coulou should I buy according to the month of birth?

This chart shows which cover to use according to the season. For information purposes to help you choose the right cover, car seats of the car seat type are generally used more or less for 12 months. This table is intended as a guide only. As the seasons are not the same from one year to the next, the usage time for each cover can be brought forward or lengthened.

Summer cover: May to September.

Winter cover: November to March.

3 seasons cover: September to May.

Is the fur collar removable?

NO - the fur collar is not removable. The synthetic fur used is of very good quality and retains its beautiful appearance after washing. Take care not to put the cover in the dryer.

How do I install my Petit Coulou car seat cover (shell)?

You'll find all the installation instructions on each of our product pages. You'll also find a video demonstrating the installation of our covers.

It is recommended to remove the rear sun visor to leave enough space for the installation of the covers winter and 3 seasons models. *Please note that the sun visor on the Uppababy Mesa, Cybex Aton and Clek models cannot be removed, but this does not prevent the installation of the winter and 3 seasons covers.

Can I use the attachment system without the base of the car seat (i.e. pass the seat belt over the car seat)?

Yes, you can use the cover without the base for the car seat. All you have to do is lift the cover, which has an elastic band around the perimeter, so you can slip the belt over it. Then simply lower the cover around the car seat.

Why aren't summer covers compatible with some car seats?

For optimal use of our summer covers, your sun visor must be removable. This way, the cover can be installed around the edge of your car seat, and you will be able to use your car seat sun visor to better protect your baby from the sun.

On some models, the sun visor is not designed to be lifted for cover installation, as it's integrated into the car seat. Therefore, we advise that compatibility with some car seat models may be limited.

Should I cover the Petit Coulou hole with a blanket?

NO - The opening is important, as it allows air to circulate. If it snows during your outing, the hole isn't big enough to accommodate much snow. The cover is like an igloo. It's scientifically proven that heat rises. It then exits through the opening in the cover, and the few flakes that arrive in front of the opening melt before they reach the baby. It is IMPORTANT to NEVER put a blanket over the opening to prevent snow or rain from entering.

Should my baby's head stick out of the Petit Coulou hole?

NO - The design of our Petit Coulou covers has been thought out to offer optimum comfort and safety for your baby. Under no circumstances should the cover be lowered towards your child to prevent the product from malfunctioning. The opening allows air to circulate, and gives you the chance to see your child at all times.

Do I have to open or remove the Petit Coulou cover in the car?

We suggest always following the recommendations included in your car seat manufacturer's instruction manual.

It's important to always open the cover to prevent your child from getting too hot inside the car seat. Partially or fully lower the zipper to reduce the temperature inside the Petit Coulou or remove the cover.

Can I use the cover on a "bassinet" type stroller?

It is not recommended to put the cover on the baby carriage of the stroller. The Petit Coulou cover is designed to fit traditional car seats/car seats, so it only offers protection on the top of the baby carriage. As the sides of the baby carriage are made of thin, non-insulating fabric, and a Petit Coulou is no substitute for winter clothing, your baby could get cold. If you really want to use the product, it will have the same effect as a blanket. In this case, it will protect from the wind and retain some of the warmth, provided you dress warmly for the outside temperature.

Does the mosquito net on the summer cover protect my baby from UV rays?

NO - since the mosquito net has small holes that let the sun's rays through. You need to add the sun visor to block UV rays.

When should I use insulated backing?

When winter temperatures are colder, we recommend using the insulated backing on outdoor walks. Take into account your child's metabolism and weather factors. Check his body temperature to make sure he doesn't get too hot. Refer to the question above "How do I know if my baby is warm in his cover?" in the Baby's well-being section for more details.
Our laboratory-tested insulated backing offers a COL* of 3.88, so it can be used in temperatures as low as -30˚C / -22˚F.

Can I use the removable insulated backing when baby is in the car?

Car seat manufacturers advise against using a bottom during car rides. The insulated backing is designed to protect baby from the cold during long outdoor rides.

Can I replace the insulated backing with a blanket?

It is not recommended to replace the insulated backing with a "blankie". As there are different models on the market (warmer or cooler), these have not been tested and we cannot guarantee energy efficiency. Also, it's more difficult to place the blanket properly at the bottom of the seat, since it doesn't have the openings to let the straps through, like our insulated backing. Plus the "blankie" is likely to shift, creating clumps of fabric in certain places and creating discomfort.

Can I wash my cover?

It all depends on your model!

Winter cover and 3 seasons (classic collection):
Machine washable in cold water (delicate cycle)

Winter and 3 seasons cover (wool collection):
Hand wash in cold water (or machine hand cycle)

Can I put the cover in the dryer?

NO - We recommend for all models to hang the cover to dry.
