What is the return/exchange policy?

For any manufacturing defect, you have 1 year to exchange your Petit Coulou with proof of purchase. For a refund, you have 14 days. To proceed, contact services@petitcoulou.com. To facilitate the processing of your request, please have your proof of payment ready when you contact us.

1. Final sale items are neither refundable nor exchangeable.
2. Regarding promotions, if you have purchased a product and it is on promotion within the next 14 days, you will be entitled to a price reduction equal to the amount of the discount. After this period, you will no longer be able to benefit from the promotion in question.
3. Delivery and other charges will be taken into account when comparing prices.

Are your covers guaranteed?

Our products are made to last, and we stand behind every one of them. The Petit Coulou warranty only covers manufacturing defects for one year (1 year) following the date of purchase. To view our full warranty, click here.

Are Petit Coulou covers compatible with all car seats?

, Compatible with most rear-facing car seats (up to 35 lb / 16 kg), except for models where the sunshade cannot be lifted at the back.

This cover is designed for use with a liftable sunshade, which must be able to raise in order to allow proper installation around the seat and ensure optimal sun protection.

For models with a built-in sunshade that cannot be lifted, the cover is not compatible, as it does not allow for optimal installation.

Are your covers flame-retardant?

Our covers are not flame-retardant. They do, however, meet the Canadian flammability requirement for textile products in Canada.

What is a CLO?

The clo is a unit measuring the thermal insulation used for clothing (clothes in English). It is the insulation that allows a person at rest to maintain thermal equilibrium in an atmosphere at 21°C (70°F) . Above this temperature, the person sweats; below this temperature, he or she feels the cold.

Here are examples of clo for certain garments:
summer wear shorts and bare torso: 0.4 clo;
ski clothing: 2 clo;
light fleece gear: 3 clo;
heavy polar equipment: 4 clo;
polar down: 8 clo.

By way of comparison, our covers and insulated backing have a clo of 3.88, which is close to heavy fleece equipment (4 clo).

How should I dress my baby when using a car seat cover?

Car seat covers are designed to replace the need for a traditional snowsuit.

How you dress your baby will depend on how long you'll be outdoors, the temperature, and the wind chill factor (how cold it actually feels).

💡 A hat is essential — about 10% of body heat is lost through the head.
We recommend dressing baby in a warm fleece (or similar) pajama, a hat, and, if desired, a light blanket.

For outdoor walks, you can add:

booties
mittens
and the insulated backing (remove it before car rides, as it’s not recommended during travel)

⚠️ Make sure baby doesn’t overheat — being too warm can be just as uncomfortable and risky as being too cold.

How do I know if my baby is warm in its cover?

Take note that every child has a different metabolism. Some are colder than others. The easiest way is to check the temperature on the back of your child's neck. If it's wet, your baby is too hot. In this case, you need to lower the temperature inside the cover. You can remove a blanket, hat, mittens, booties, lighter clothing or simply open the cover slightly. Please wait a few minutes and check again.

How old can my baby be in his Petit Coulou?

You can use your cover as long as your child is in the car seat. It all depends on your baby's weight and height. Generally speaking, a baby will stay in its car seat until the age of 12 months. For more details, refer to your car seat manufacturer's manual.

Is the footmuff cover compatible with all models of strollers, prams and sleds?

Yes, the footmuff cover is equipped with 2 rear elastic straps and 6 back openings which allow a universal fit to all your walking equipment.

How should I dress my child when using the footmuff?

The footmuff acts like a warm, cozy blanket and is meant to be used in addition to weather-appropriate clothing. Since it’s open around the shoulders and face, it’s important to keep your child’s extremities well covered — a hat, neck warmer, mittens, and boots are essential to keep them warm and comfortable.

Can I use the cover in the car?

NO. This cover is not designed for car seats.

Is the summer cover compatible with all car seats?

Can the summer cover be used with a pram or stroller seat?

No, our summer cover is designed for baby car seats only. It does not completely cover the sides of a pram, which leaves gaps where mosquitoes can enter.

Does the summer cover retain too much heat or create a greenhouse effect?

The cover is made of mosquito netting, so air circulates well and wind passes easily. The removable sun visor is also made of breathable fabric. As always, regardless of the cover, it is not recommended to leave a baby in a shell for long periods of time in very hot weather. Our covers are designed to protect against mosquitoes and UV rays while allowing air to circulate. When used properly, it will not suffocate your baby; it is up to parents to adapt according to the temperature and the situation.

Does the mosquito net protect against UV rays?

The mosquito net itself doesn't block UV rays, as it's made of mesh. However, the entire cover (other than the mosquito net) provides UV protection. Additionally, the detachable sun visor covers a large portion of the cover for added protection. By combining the cover's built-in sun visor with the shell's, your baby is well protected from the sun.

What’s the difference between the 3-Season cover and the Winter cover?

Both covers can be used in temperatures as low as -30 °C. The 3-Season cover is more versatile because of its removable lining, making it easy to adapt for spring, fall, and winter weather. The Winter cover, on the other hand, has two fixed layers of insulation. To prevent baby from overheating, it’s important to open the cover to regulate the temperature inside.

How do I install my Petit Coulou cover?

For the Winter, 3-Season, and Lightweight covers, we recommend removing the rear sun canopy for more space.

Note: On Uppababy, Cybex Aton, and Clek models, the sun canopy cannot be removed, but the cover can still be installed properly.

Can I use the attachment system without the base of the car seat (i.e. pass the seat belt over the car seat)?

Yes, you can use the cover without the base for the car seat. All you have to do is lift the cover, which has an elastic band around the perimeter, so you can slip the belt over it. Then simply lower the cover around the car seat.

Why do summer covers have limited compatibility with some car seats?

Our summer cover has been specially designed to be used with the car seat sunshade to protect your baby from the sun's rays. To fully benefit from its advantages, it is essential that the sunshade can be lifted off the seat. This will allow the cover to be installed around the seat while still using the sunshade to provide optimum protection from the sun's rays.

However, on some models, the sunshade is integrated into the car seat, which prevents it from being lifted to install the cover. In this case, the cover will have to be installed over the sunshade. This installation may limit the use of the sunshade, which could reduce sun protection for baby.

How do I know if my cover is properly installed?

Make sure the elastic is stretched tightly and evenly distributed around the seat.
Check that all insulating panels are correctly positioned inside the seat to ensure the cover is sealed.
The rods should be properly raised to create an “igloo” shape, providing optimal space for baby.

Can I cover the opening of the cover in cold, snowy, or rainy weather?

Can I cover the opening of the cover in cold, snowy, or rainy weather?

The opening is essential for proper air circulation.
Even when it snows, the opening is too small to let many flakes in. Like an igloo, the warmth rises and naturally melts any flakes before they reach baby.

🔺 Never cover the opening, even in snow or rain — it impairs ventilation.

Should my baby’s head extend beyond the opening of the Petit Coulou cover?

Petit Coulou covers are designed to provide comfort and safety. Never pull the cover down toward your baby, as this affects its proper function. The opening ensures good air circulation and lets you keep an eye on your little one.

How to use the car seat cover both indoors and in the car?

To prevent baby from overheating:

Open the cover as soon as you enter a heated space.
Remove extra clothing or accessories as needed.
Remove the cover completely if necessary.

*Always follow the car seat manufacturer’s recommendations as outlined in their instruction manual.

Can I use the cover on a pram?

Using the cover on a pram is not recommended. It’s designed specifically for car seats, so it only covers the top of the pram. Since the sides aren’t insulated, baby could get cold.

If you still choose to use it, think of it more like a blanket: it will protect against wind and help retain some warmth, provided baby is dressed appropriately for the temperature

Can I wash my cover?

It depends on your model!

Winter, 3-Season, Lightweight covers and Footmuff (Classic, Prestige, and Sherpa collections):
– Machine washable in cold water (delicate cycle)
– Close the cover and turn it inside out to preserve its look
– Hang to dry
– Footmuff only: detach the front panel for faster drying

Winter and 3-Season covers (Wool collection):
– Hand wash in cold water (or use gentle hand-wash cycle in machine)
– Close the cover and turn it inside out to preserve its look
– Detach the lining for faster drying

Summer cover:
– Hand wash only

Can I put the cover in the dryer?

NO — We recommend hanging all models to dry.

For faster drying:

Remove the lining from the 3-Season cover.
Remove the front panel from the footmuff cover.

Care

In colder winter temperatures, we recommend using the insulated backing for outdoor outings.

When should I use the insulated backing?

In colder winter temperatures, we recommend using the insulated backing for outdoor outings. Consider your child’s metabolism as well as the weather conditions, and regularly check their body temperature to ensure they are neither too cold nor too warm.

Our insulated backing has been laboratory tested and offers a CLO* rating of 3.88, providing protection equivalent to our winter cover, suitable for temperatures down to -30°C / -22°F.

Can I use the removable insulated backing when baby is in the car?

Car seat manufacturers recommend not using a base insert while driving, as removing it allows the harness to fit more snugly and safely on baby. The insulated backing, however, is designed to keep baby warm during long outdoor walks.

Can I replace the insulated backing with a blanket?

It is not recommended to replace the insulated backing with a blanket, as it doesn’t have openings for the straps, can shift, create fabric bunching, and affect baby’s comfort. Additionally, its thermal effectiveness is not guaranteed.
